Patchwork Runner Tips! Make Your Own Pattern!

Hi Everyone,

I want to tell you some tips about my patchwork runner!

Firstly, If you want to make this pattern, there are lot of way to do this. I prefered more easy way for me and I want to share it with you.

It can be adapt for complicated patterns, too.

If I see a table cloth, pillow cover... etc., I get a screenshot and divide the shape into squares.

Like this:

I think, making patchwork in square method is easiest and funniest way ever, like making puzzle.

So, I have a pattern now. And first thing I will do making calculation about how many square that I will cut.

I always write down things that I will do to prevent wasting of fabrics.

List of Fabric Cutting:

4 White Squares for Corners + 4 White Squares for divided squares = 8 White Squares should be cut.

4 Blue Squares for divided squares

4 Pink Squares for divided squares

(You can cut which dimensions you want, I cut 11.5x11.5cm)

Preparation of Divided Squares:

1) Get 2 squares and determine front sides. Put them on a table (front sides look to each other) like in the photo.

2) Needle them for no slipping. Draw a line with a visible marker corner to corner.

3) Sew fabrics with aligning to sew machine's foot according to line. And turn fabric, align again, like in the picture.

4) Cut the fabric along the line.

5) Open fabrics and iron the square. If it is not a absolute square, trim edges.

6) Your squares are ready!

You can prepare your squares like this and make a shape with respect to a pattern or randomly :)
